Kayo Sakey

Chair of NZ Asian Leaders, Wellington and Council Member of Superdiversity Institute

Kayo has a successful leadership track record of over 20 years in global business development. It spans across the food, nutritional and agribusiness (including biosecurity and traceability).

Kayo creates “tomorrow’s organisations out of today’s” to grow sustainable business by an effective use of science, technology and a strategic partnership approach.

She has previously held senior leadership roles at Fonterra and its predecessors in general management, strategy & business development, commercialization of technology and global marketing & innovation. In the public/private partnership arena, her responsibility as GM Business Transformation included leading strategy development and implementation of innovation initiatives. Examples include the award-winning Livestock Disease Management System and a collaborative Proof of Concept development of an on-line traceability tool.

Most recently, Kayo’s focus has been on driving business transformation initiatives for a start-up agritech company to enable farms to be environmentally sustainable (water and climate change) and to help lift the value of NZ brands through sustainability credentials e.g. Te Taiao.

As the Chair of NZ Asian Leaders Wellington, Kayo promotes the value of diversity for Aotearoa economic development.
